What does a chemical and SDS register actually have to do?
Hold every product you keep on site, with a current safety data sheet attached, the quantity held at each location, and whether that quantity trips a regulatory threshold. Most registers manage the first part and fail the rest. The SDS folder is complete on paper and five years out of date in practice, and nobody can answer which sites are over threshold without counting. Frontline holds the product, the sheet and the location on one record, tracks the five-year re-issue date, and rolls quantities up so the threshold question answers itself.

The problem
The SDS folder is complete, and out of date
Every site has the folder. Very few can tell you when the sheets in it were issued.
Safety data sheets get re-issued on roughly a five-year cycle and nothing tells you when yours lapsed. So the binder passes a glance and fails a real audit, and the sheet the fire brigade needs at 2am is for a product the site stopped using in 2019.
The harder question is quantity. Thresholds are set on how much you hold at a location, which means the register has to know what is where and it has to add up. A spreadsheet per site cannot do that, so 'are we over threshold anywhere' becomes a project instead of a view.

SDS currency, not SDS presence
Every product carries its issue date, its five-year expiry and where the sheet came from. Missing and lapsed sheets are a list you work through, not a discovery you make during an audit.
Threshold assessment
Quantity held per location rolls up against the trigger quantity. Sites over threshold show what comes with it - test certificate, approved handler, signage.
Where it is held
Each product links to the sites holding it, so a site register is a view of the same data rather than a second document to maintain.
Classification carried through
GHS classes, HSNO classification, signal word, hazard statements, DG class and packing group come from the source record instead of being typed in again.
Controls and response
Storage requirements, incompatibilities, PPE and spill response sit on the product, reachable on a phone at the point someone needs them.
Worth being clear
We don't sell you an SDS library
Frontline holds and tracks your safety data sheets. It does not author them and it is not a subscription library of every sheet on the market. The sheet comes from your supplier or from the source record, and we keep it current, attached to the product and reachable from the site holding it.
If what you want is a bought library with sheets maintained for you, that is a different product and you should buy it. Plenty of teams run one alongside a register like this.

A spreadsheet, an export, or the WorkSafe PIN for each New Zealand site. Twenty sites in different formats is the normal starting position, not the hard case.
We match products to their source record
Approval numbers, group standards and classification come across with the product, so the register agrees with the regulator's record rather than someone's memory of it.
The gaps arrive as a list
Products with no sheet, sheets past five years, locations over threshold. That list is usually the first week of work and the reason the register earns its place.
Sites keep it current
Adding a product, retiring one and re-issuing a sheet all happen on the site, on a phone, against the same register the group reads.

Questions we get asked
Do you supply the safety data sheets?
No. We hold and track the sheets you get from your suppliers, and for New Zealand sites we carry across the EPA record the product is approved under. We are not a subscription SDS library and we do not author sheets.
We are in Australia. Is this New Zealand only?
The WorkSafe calculator import is a New Zealand thing, because the calculator is. Everywhere else you send the inventory you already have and we import that instead. The register, the SDS tracking and the threshold logic are the same.
What happens to sites that are over threshold?
The site shows as over, with the requirements that come at that quantity - test certificate, approved handler, whatever applies. It is a state on the register, not a note in someone's file.
Can the fire brigade or a contractor get to a sheet quickly?
Yes. The sheet is attached to the product and reachable from the site record on a phone, rather than sitting in a binder in an office that may be the part of the building you cannot enter.
